Since 1989, Hilltop has helped clients weather global financial crises and countless personal life events. In an era when most client–advisor relationships were driven by product sales, founders Don Rutledge and Deborah Hining chose a fee-based financial planning approach—grounded in trust, long-term partnership, and advice tailored to the individual, not the transaction.

As franchise owners with a national brokerage firm, they began crafting a team built on mentorship and shared responsibility, a culture we carry forward today. In 2016, we became a fully independent, fee-only firm to further align our advice with what matters most to our clients.
